Neutrophil‐to‐eosinophil ratio as a biomarker for clinical outcomes in advanced stage melanoma patients treated with anti‐PD‐1 therapy

This retrospective study investigated the predictive value of the neutrophil-to-eosinophil ratio (NER) in advanced melanoma patients treated with anti-PD-1 therapy. The study analyzed progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), objective response rates (ORR), and the risk of immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Lower baseline NER and NLR (neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio) were associated with improved OS. Multivariate analysis showed that lower pretreatment NER was linked to better ORR and improved OS. However, baseline NLR, 1-month NLR, and 1-month NER did not significantly affect ORR, PFS, or OS outcomes. Nonetheless, 1-month NER was associated with a lower risk of high-grade irAEs. These findings suggest that baseline NER may serve as a potential prognostic marker in advanced melanoma patients receiving anti-PD-1 therapy, warranting further investigation.
