A new model-based method was developed to quantify glucagon-induced C-peptide secretion (SR), assessing β-cell function in individuals with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D). The model revealed significant differences in static and total insulin secretory responses to glucagon between healthy individuals and those with T2D. The findings highlight potential compensatory mechanisms in β-cell function and provide a tool to understand glucagon’s role in diabetes further.
