New Study Unveils Potential Biomarkers for Childhood Asthma Severity

A study investigated serum miR-27a-3p and activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) levels in 120 children with bronchial asthma (BA) and 108 healthy children. Significant correlations were found between miR-27a-3p/ATF3 expression and airway inflammation markers (IL-17, IL-6, TNF-α, IgE, eosinophils). Both biomarkers showed diagnostic potential for BA, with miR-27a-3p targeting ATF3 identified. These findings suggest miR-27a-3p and ATF3 as promising indicators of BA severity and inflammation status in children
