A recent study analyzed 532 patients with cN0 salivary gland malignancies, revealing a 27% rate of occult nodal metastases (ONM) in parotid tumors and a 35% rate in submandibular/sublingual cases. Predominant ONMs were observed in levels IV and V, suggesting the necessity of targeted elective dissection. Notably, minor gland cancers exhibited higher ONM rates in levels I–III. Survival and recurrence rates remained consistent with previous findings. This study emphasizes the significance of tailored treatment approaches for different subtypes of salivary gland malignancies.
