Ocrelizumab reduces cortical and deep grey matter loss compared to the S1P-receptor modulator in multiple sclerosis

In a study comparing Ocrelizumab (OCR) and Fingolimod (FGL) treatments for multiple sclerosis, OCR demonstrated superior efficacy. Over 36 months, OCR significantly reduced the relapse rate from 0.48 to 0.04, while FGL reduced it from 0.32 to 0.05. The OCR group experienced fewer new white matter lesions, lower deep grey matter volume loss, and reduced cortical thinning in various regions compared to FGL. These findings suggest that OCR may provide better outcomes in suppressing lesions and limiting volume loss in multiple sclerosis patients.
