Higher blood levels of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA may safeguard against hearing difficulties in middle-aged adults. The study analyzed over 100,000 participants aged 40 to 69. Those with the highest DHA levels had a lower risk of hearing loss, including difficulty hearing with background noise, and hearing aid use, compared to those with the lowest levels. DHA has been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease and cognitive impairment, and now this study suggests its potential in preserving auditory function and preventing age-related hearing loss.
