The study evaluated the effectiveness of a spectacle lens with annular cylindrical microstructures in controlling myopia in children aged 8-12 years. 118 eligible children were enrolled and randomly assigned to wear either the cylindrical annular refractive element (CARE) or single-vision spectacle lenses. Results showed that CARE significantly reduced the rate of axial elongation and myopia progression over one year compared to single-vision spectacle lenses. All participants adapted well to their lenses with no reported adverse events or discomfort.
