Online health information on sinonasal inverted papillomas: An assessment on readability and quality

Online information about sinonasal inverted papilloma (IP), a rare but serious condition, was evaluated for quality and readability. Among 480 websites screened, only 14 met inclusion criteria. These sites had a low Flesch Reading Ease Score (FRES) of 30.5 (indicating difficulty) and an average grade level (AGL) of 15.2 (suitable for a 21-year-old reader). The quality, assessed via the DISCERN questionnaire, was notably poor, with a median score of 33.5. This study underscores the inadequacy of online resources about IP, highlighting the need for healthcare providers to guide patients toward reliable sources or create new, accessible materials.
