Optimizing Visual Acuity Curve Estimation in Presbyopia Correction

This study evaluated the minimum number of visual acuity (VA) measurements required for reliable estimation of the visual acuity curve (VAC) and area of the curve (AoC) in presbyopia correction. Using a cubic spline interpolation model, it was found that four to six VA measurements at optimal distances provided reliable VAC and AoC estimations. Fewer than four measurements were insufficient, while mean errors in VAC and AoC predictions ranged from 2.54 letters/1.74% (six measurements) to 2.90 letters/2.9% (four measurements).
