This study compared outcomes of intramedullary nail fixation (IMN) and open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) for humeral diaphyseal fractures. Data from 2,804 matched pairs of patients showed that ORIF had a higher risk of revision surgery and complications overall. However, for patients aged 60 and above, ORIF was associated with significantly higher odds of complications and revisions compared to IMN.
