The state of Maharashtra, India, reported a total of 39,426 cases of conjunctivitis, with most cases being viral conjunctivitis caused by adenovirus. The public health department issued an alert to intensify surveillance in various districts. While Mumbai has not experienced an outbreak, caution is advised. Pune is the worst affected district with 7,871 cases, largely driven by an outbreak in the temple town of Alandi. The screening process identified an additional 2,000 cases over the weekend, with schools also revealing more cases. The surge in cases is attributed to the impact of weather conditions, and Buldhana reported the second highest number of cases (6,693).
