Paediatric acute hepatitis of unknown aetiology: A adenoviraemia case-control study

The study, conducted by actively monitoring acute hepatitis in children under 16, discovered 274 cases. Jaundice and gastrointestinal symptoms were common, with 15 children requiring liver transplantation, but none died. Adenovirus was detected in 68% of cases, particularly Ad41F. This research offers insights into diagnosis, clinical management, and further studies on pediatric hepatitis causes while investigating co-factors like other viruses and host susceptibility remains crucial.
