The study investigated the association between parity and mortality, along with the mediating role of depression, The analysis included 16,962 women and revealed that nulliparous women had higher all-cause and cause-specific mortality rates compared to those with one to three live births, who showed a 17% and 33% reduction in all-cause and cancer mortality, respectively. Women with more than four live births had reduced all-cause mortality and mortality from other diseases. Depression partially mediated the relationship between parity and mortality outcomes. No significant association was found between parity and cardiovascular disease mortality.
