The study examined the perioperative risks for patients with asymptomatic significant aortic stenosis (AS) undergoing noncardiac surgeries. A study involving 221 patients with AS undergoing general anesthesia for high-risk surgeries showed no substantial variance in major adverse cardiovascular events compared to controls (5.5% AS group versus 4.6% control). However, perioperative adverse cardiovascular events were higher in the AS group (18.3% versus 13.8%). The severity of cardiac damage was a critical predictor of adverse events post-surgery. This research highlights the need for tailored risk assessments in AS patients undergoing noncardiac surgeries.
