Persistent hypotension in pregnancy isn’t tied to abnormal placental flow. In a secondary analysis of over 5,200 pregnancies, 2.7% of patients had persistent hypotension. While unadjusted analysis showed a higher rate of abnormal uterine artery Dopplers (45% vs. 35.3%, p=0.017), this association was not significant after adjusting for confounders (aOR 1.39, 95% CI 0.98–1.95). Persistent hypotension alone does not predict placental hypoperfusion in nulliparous patients.
