The study compared plaque characteristics, including intraplaque hemorrhage (IPH), in symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid artery disease (CAD) patients using Doppler ultrasonography (USG) and MRA. Heterogeneous plaques were more common in symptomatic cases, with moderate correlations found between IPH and plaque irregularities. Significant associations with stenosis and flow acceleration were also noted. These findings suggest that identifying heterogeneous plaques and irregular surfaces can be valuable for screening and managing stroke risk in CAD patients.
