POCUS aids in distinguishing angioedema from cellulitis in pediatrics. In a study of 23 patients with periorbital swelling from insect bites, pre-POCUS diagnoses were mostly allergic reactions. After POCUS, 21.7% of diagnoses and treatment plans changed. Ultrasound revealed linear bands in 22 cases, suggesting angioedema. This approach reduced unnecessary imaging and hospital admissions, showing POCUS as a helpful adjunct tool in emergency care for pediatric patients.
