Healthy soils and clean water are vital for life and human health. However, chemical pollution is a major environmental threat, causing approximately 9 million premature deaths globally, including 5.5 million related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) in 2019. Pollutants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and synthetic chemicals have been linked to increased CVD risk. Soil pollution reduces food production and contributes to water contamination. Environmental factors like deforestation and climate change exacerbate these issues. This review explores the connections between soil and water pollution and human health, emphasizing their role in cardiovascular disease.
