The WHO has added polypills to its list of essential medications, prioritizing them to meet global healthcare needs. Polypills are fixed-dose combinations of cardiovascular medications. Three combos were listed: one with aspirin, atorvastatin, and ramipril; another with aspirin, simvastatin, ramipril, atenolol, and hydrochlorothiazide; and a third with atorvastatin, perindopril, and amlodipine. These medicines are selected based on disease prevalence, evidence of efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
