This study examined the convalescent course of COVID-19 among adults in North and South America and Africa. The findings showed that the duration of COVID-19 symptoms varied based on factors such as disease severity, race, lung disease, and region. Some participants experienced symptoms even after COVID-19 resolution, with a significant proportion reporting symptoms lasting ≥30 days. Prolonged viral shedding was associated with persistent abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Understanding these post-COVID conditions, including regional variations, could enhance global clinical assessment and management.
