The study analyzed proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use in 41,263 patients with alcohol-related cirrhosis (ALD cirrhosis) in Denmark (1997–2022). PPI use peaked at 40% in 2016 and remained stable through 2022. At diagnosis, 26% were PPI users, increasing to 38% within three months. Older patients were more likely to initiate PPIs. These findings highlight the need for further research on the risks and benefits of PPI use in ALD cirrhosis.
