A prospective randomized controlled trial involved 57 adult patients who underwent phacovitrectomy surgery. The effects of short-acting mydriatics in combination with standard postoperative care were examined. The study group received mydriatics alongside standard treatment, while the control group received only standard care. Results showed that adding short-acting mydriatics did not significantly reduce posterior synechia formation. However, factors such as retinal detachment surgery, prolonged surgical duration (>93 minutes), and the use of silicone oil tamponade were identified as potential contributors to posterior synechia development. These findings may inform post-phaco vitrectomy treatment protocols and identify patients requiring closer monitoring.
