Pregnancy Outcomes After Laparoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation of Uterine Leiomyomas Compared With Myomectomy

A study comparing pregnancy outcomes post laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation and myomectomy, involving 539 premenopausal women with uterine leiomyomas, reveals significant findings. Among 37 participants conceiving 43 times, miscarriage rates were 33.3%, with 40.9% experiencing first-trimester miscarriage after radiofrequency ablation and 42.9% after myomectomy. Live births occurred in 50.0% after radiofrequency ablation and 57.1% after myomectomy, with no significant difference in live birth or miscarriage rates between groups. Despite achieving full-term pregnancy and vaginal delivery after radiofrequency ablation, both procedures exhibited higher miscarriage rates than expected.
