Prevalence and Effects of Fetal Aortic Regurgitation Post-FAV

The study analyzed 99 fetuses with critical aortic stenosis who underwent fetal aortic valvuloplasty (FAV). Post-FAV, 87% developed some degree of aortic regurgitation (AR), with 45% experiencing significant AR. However, the prevalence and severity of AR decreased after birth, with a significant reduction in moderate/severe cases. FAV resulted in increased left ventricular (LV) growth, changes in hemodynamics, and notable differences in the MCA and UA pulsatility indices, particularly in significant AR cases.
