Prognostic Factors in Spanish Patients with Uveal Melanoma

The prospective study examined clinical and histopathological prognostic factors in 138 Spanish patients with posterior uveal melanoma treated by enucleation. Scleral extension and vortex vein invasion were significantly associated with poorer survival. The Spanish cohort demonstrated a higher melanoma-specific survival compared to previously studied Anglo-Saxon populations, highlighting the need for further genetic and molecular research in predicting prognosis.
