
This study investigated the significance of serum mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) as a prognostic biomarker for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The results showed that ICH patients had significantly higher serum MANF levels than controls. MANF levels were independently associated with stroke severity indicators, including National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, hematoma volumes, and 90-day modified Rankin scale (mRS) scores. Serum MANF levels also predicted early neurologic deterioration (END) and poor prognosis at 90 days. Combining serum MANF levels with NIHSS scores and hematoma volumes improved the prognostic capability. Serum MANF levels above certain thresholds were associated with increased risks of END and poor prognosis. The study concludes that serum MANF may be a potential prognostic biomarker for ICH.
