Prognostic value of right ventricular free-wall longitudinal strain in aortic stenosis

This meta-analysis investigates the prognostic value of right ventricular free-wall longitudinal strain (RVfwLS) compared to traditional parameters in aortic stenosis (AS) patients. Analyzing data from nine studies (2547 patients), RVfwLS exhibited a significant association with adverse outcomes (pooled hazard ratio: 1.56). However, when comparing RVfwLS to systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (SPAP), fractional area change (FAC), and tricuspid annulus plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), no statistically significant superiority was found (RVfwLS/SPAP: 1.28; RVfwLS/FAC: 1.24; RVfwLS/TAPSE: 1.07). This suggests that while RVfwLS is notably linked to adverse outcomes in AS, it doesn't exhibit clear prognostic superiority over other parameters.
