In a study investigating anesthesia management for outpatients with mental disabilities undergoing dental treatment, transitioning from propofol to remimazolam with flumazenil reversal at the end of surgery significantly reduced post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) stay duration. Patients receiving this approach experienced shorter times to eye-opening and extubation compared to those on propofol alone. Notably, neither group required rescue analgesics, and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) was not reported. These findings suggest that the propofol-remimazolam approach with flumazenil reversal enhances recovery efficiency without compromising postoperative outcomes.
