Propranolol reduces Parkinson's resting tremor, regardless of stress. In a study of 27 patients, propranolol (40mg) lowered tremor power during a cognitive task. It reduced tremor-related brain activity in the motor cortex and cerebello-thalamo-cortical circuit, with no interaction with cognitive load. The findings suggest propranolol’s tremor-reducing effects are context-independent and act via the primary motor cortex, offering potential therapeutic benefits for PD patients.
