Prospective >12 Months Outcomes After Vocal Fold Injection Medialization With Silk Microparticle‐Hyaluronic Acid Material

A recent study on vocal fold injection medialization (VFIM) with silk protein microparticle-hyaluronic acid-based material (silk-HA) has revealed promising results. In a prospective open-label study involving 17 UVFP patients, 12 of whom were followed for over 12 months, 7 patients experienced lasting benefits, with a median improvement of 19 in VHI-10, a voice-related measurement (p = 0.0156). Notably, 5 of these patients achieved complete or near-complete glottal closure at the 12-month mark. This study suggests that VFIM with silk-HA could provide long-lasting improvements for UVFP patients, but further exploration is needed to predict sustained treatment responses.
