A study comparing Chinese and Western prostate cancer (PC) patients' genomic data sheds light on disparities in the disease. Examining 1016 Chinese PC patients, the study found variations in genetic mutations when compared to Western counterparts. Chinese PC patients showed more FOXA1 mutations but fewer TP53 mutations in locoregional PC and fewer TP53, PTEN, and APC mutations in castration-sensitive PC. However, metastatic castration-resistant PC patients from both groups had similar mutations. The study offers insights into PC disparities across ethnicities, especially in the early stages, and may aid in understanding and treating PC in China.
