A study called IP1-PROSTAGRAM suggests that short biparametric "Prostagram" MRI scans could be useful for prostate cancer screening. The study compared biopsy recommendations and accuracy between PI-RADSv2 and the Likert scale in detecting significant and insignificant prostate cancer in men aged 50-69. When the MRI score was ≥3, the Likert scale recommended more biopsies than PI-RADSv2 (23% vs. 18%). However, for scores ≥4, there was no significant difference. Both methods had similar accuracy for detecting cancer (AUROC 0.64 vs. 0.65). The Likert scale led to more biopsies without significantly improving cancer detection. Further refinements in Prostagram MRI reporting are suggested.
