A study of 72 youths (mean age 14.6 years) with FED found universal psychiatric comorbidity, most commonly anxiety (87.5%) and mood disorders (66.5%). PCA revealed five latent psychological dimensions, while ANCOVA showed distinct comorbidity patterns across FED subtypes. Findings support transdiagnostic mechanisms underlying FEDs and emphasize the need for tailored, early interventions based on individual psychopathological profiles.
