PTeye Enhances Parathyroid Gland Identification in PHPT Surgery

The study evaluated the use of PTeye autofluorescence (AF) technology in primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) surgery. A retrospective analysis of 232 patients revealed that PTeye-guided surgery significantly improved parathyroid gland identification rates (p < 0.001), with a 20.7-fold greater likelihood of identifying all four glands than controls. No cases of permanent hypoparathyroidism were reported, indicating the safety of the procedure. PTeye is an effective tool, especially for patients with a high prevalence of multiglandular disease.
