Quantifying bladder outflow obstruction in men: A comparison of four approximation methods exploiting large data samples

The study evaluated four established methods to determine urethral resistance in men with lower urinary tract symptoms. Based on 1717 high-quality pressure flow studies, the study found that the three-parameter method yielded the most precise results for estimating minimum urethral opening pressure. This measurement is vital for diagnosing bladder outflow obstruction in benign prostatic hyperplasia. Interestingly, the bladder outflow obstruction index demonstrated lesser accuracy, while linearized passive urethral resistance relation was now deemed the most physiologically accurate.
