Pharmacists have an essential role in the medication management of critically ill patients, including those with COVID-19. A study was conducted at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, to describe pharmacist interventions in the care of critically ill patients with COVID-19. The most common interventions were medication discontinuation, completion of components of the ICU liberation bundle, medication dose adjustment, therapeutic drug monitoring, and medication initiation. The study showed that pharmacists play a crucial role in critical illness care, specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic.
