Quinolone-induced antibiotic resistance (QIAR) presents a significant challenge. The study investigates quinolone-induced antibiotic resistance (QIAR) in Escherichia coli MG1655, examining mutations resulting in resistance to non-quinolone antibiotics like chloramphenicol, ampicillin, and tetracycline. The resistance depended on DNA gyrase and the SOS response but not on error-prone polymerases. While most quinolones tested induced resistance, moxifloxacin did not exhibit a significant QIAR effect, suggesting it may act via a different mechanism.
