Real-world Study Indicates Abatacept's Potential Edge Over TNFi in Treating Seropositive RA Patients

A recent study assessed the practical efficacy of abatacept compared to tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients who were seropositive for a shared epitope (SE) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (anti-CCP3). The study analyzed cohorts through propensity score methods and found numerical improvements in the mean change in the Clinical Disease Activity Index (CDAI) with abatacept, particularly in the biologic-experienced subgroup. Statistically significant results were observed in this subgroup, suggesting superior effectiveness of abatacept over TNFi in real-world scenarios for certain RA patients.
