A breakthrough analysis has delved into the intricate dynamics of vocal fold (VF) medial surfaces, shedding light on voice production and treatment for voice disorders. The study involved in vivo canine hemilarynx phonation, with graded stimulation of recurrent and superior laryngeal nerves (RLN and SLN) and varied airflow. The results showed that as airflow increased and nerve activation decreased, the convex-hull area of landmark trajectories expanded. Different trajectory shapes were observed, including circular, ellipsoid, bent, and figure-eight. The study highlights the importance of understanding VF vibration in relation to neuromuscular stimulation and airflow, especially in high nerve activation scenarios.
