A study evaluated the recurrence patterns and survival rates among patients with sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM). The study analyzed data from 196 patients with SNMM from 1991 to 2022. Among these patients, 74.5% experienced recurrence. The 60-month disease-free survival (DFS) was 15.5%, and overall survival (OS) was 44.7%. The most common type of recurrence was isolated distant recurrence (42.8%), followed by local (28.3%), multifocal (20.7%), and regional recurrence (8.3%). Primary treatment of the neck did not reduce recurrence. Immunotherapy was associated with improved 12-month post-recurrence survival (PRS) for distant recurrence. SNMM has a high recurrence rate and poor survival, highlighting the need for effective treatment strategies.
