Reduce the Cardiovascular risk with NSAIDs in Ankylosing Spondylitis patients

The study investigated the link between NSAID use and cardiovascular events in AS patients. It found an 8-year cumulative incidence of 1.81% for MACE, 0.97% for stroke, and 0.85% for MI. NSAIDs and TNF inhibitors were associated with reduced MACE risk, but anti-lL17 treatment showed no significant association. While prior studies indicated increased cardiovascular risk with NSAIDs, this study suggests a relatively lower risk in AS patients. Healthcare providers should monitor AS patients on NSAIDs for cardiovascular health.
