Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin condition that affects up to 25% of children and 5% of adults worldwide. Itch is a common symptom of atopic dermatitis. The itch–scratch cycle associated with atopic dermatitis affects sleep and daily activities, and causes extreme distress to patients. Nemolizumab is a new drug that has been shown to reduce the severity of itch when given in combination with topical treatments (treatments that are applied directly to the skin).  Importantly, in the 8 weeks after stopping treatment, most patients did not report acute itchiness or a flare up of their atopic dermatitis. In addition, this study shows that nemolizumab was safe to use over this long treatment period. The results support the long‐term use of nemolizumab in patients with atopic dermatitis who have not been able to get adequate relief using topical treatment or oral antihistamines.

A UK Biobank analysis of about 411,000 participants compared the Edmonton Obesity Staging System with the Lancet Commission Diagnostic Model for Obesity.
