Resmetirom’s Effect on Disease Progression in MASLD Patients

The MAESTRO-NASH trial demonstrated that Resmetirom improves fibrosis and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in patients with F2 or F3 fibrosis. A Markov model simulation showed that, over 5 years, Resmetirom reduced the probability of developing complications like compensated cirrhosis (CC), decompensated cirrhosis (DC), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and mortality (liver-related, cardiovascular, and extra-hepatic cancers). Life years gained were 0.45 and 0.63 for F2 and F3 fibrosis, respectively, supporting the treatment's long-term benefit.
