An analysis of the MINT Trial found that restrictive blood transfusion (Hgb ≥8 g/dL) increased the risk of 30-day cardiac death in non-revascularized acute MI patients, but did not affect revascularized patients. While the transfusion strategy did not impact death or MI outcomes overall, the higher cardiac death risk in non-revascularized patients suggests the need for further investigation into transfusion protocols.
