Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) is effective for severe emphysema and hyperinflation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. BLVR techniques, including endobronchial valves (EBVs), aim to improve pulmonary function and quality of life by reducing lung volume. With over 25,000 EBV procedures performed worldwide, identifying suitable candidates remains challenging. This review covers BLVR history, evidence, complications, patient selection, and future directions, focusing on EBV placement.
