Revised Paradigm for Acute Pulmonary Embolism Prognostication and Treatment

Pulmonary embolism (PE) continues to threaten cardiovascular health significantly. Accurate prognosis is crucial for effective treatment. Recent studies suggest that risk stratification and streamlined management pathways can shorten hospital stays while enhancing patient outcomes. However, there's a need for a novel approach. A recent review introduced the therapy-stratified risk classification for acute PE management. This model predicts short-term mortality, assesses outcomes and aligns therapeutic options with individual patient characteristics. To achieve this, gather experts, employ a modified Delphi method, and validate the approach through prospective trials.
