Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) treatments, including anti-TNF agents and IL-17 inhibitors, have shown potential, yet concerns about infection risks persist. A systematic review of 24 studies (1,696 patients) revealed a 24.2% incidence of mild respiratory and skin infections. Anti-IL17 treatment correlated with the highest infection rate at 33.6%, but risk elevation wasn't significant (0.99, 95% CI: 0.86–1.14). Serious infections were rare (0.39% for anti-IL17, 0.03% for anti-TNF), and opportunistic infections were infrequent, with reported cases of oral candidiasis, cryptosporidiosis, and Blastocystis hominis infection.
