Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is accompanied by burdensome comorbid conditions. Therefore, understanding the relative timing of the onset of these conditions could inform disease prevention, detection, and management. This study aimed to evaluate the association between chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and the onset of asthma, non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFBE), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The study was conducted among primary care patients using a detailed medical and symptom questionnaire in 2014 and 2020. The study found that moderate to severe CRS symptoms were associated with increased odds of new-onset and prevalent asthma, NCFBE, COPD, GERD, and OSA. The results suggest that CRS could be a target for preventing and detecting these conditions.

A retrospective study of 161 adults found that plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) improved early soft tissue healing after endodontic surgery when used alone. Combined with a collagen membrane, PRGF reduced analgesic use, adverse effects and quality-of-life impact while preserving clinical attachment. A systematic review of 134 patients with deep dermatophytosis found that immunodeficiency, including renal transplantation and CARD9 or STAT3 mutations, increases the risk of invasive infection. Margin-controlled surgery, imiquimod or radiotherapy may be considered for selected lesions.
