Robotic Surgery Advances Immediate Dental Implant Accuracy

This study evaluated the accuracy of robotic computer-assisted implant surgery (r-CAIS) for immediate implant placement across 20 implant sites. Postoperative cone-beam computed tomography scans assessed discrepancies between actual and planned implant positions. Results demonstrated a mean global coronal deviation of 0.71 ± 0.27 mm, a mean global apical deviation of 0.69 ± 0.26 mm, and an angular deviation of 1.27 ± 0.47°. Notably, 90% of coronal deviations and 95% of apical deviations occurred buccally, indicating a consistent deviation trend. The findings suggest that r-CAIS is a promising technique for immediate implants in the anterior region, although an optimized surgical protocol is essential for specific sites such as extraction sockets and bone defects.
