This study investigated extracellular traps (ETs) as potential markers for bronchiectasis endotypes. Romanowsky-stained bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) slides were used to detect ETs in children with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, revealing their presence in 79% of cases, mainly originating from macrophages (METs) and neutrophils (NETs). This cost-effective method offers diagnostic potential for bronchiectasis and warrants further research into ETs' role in defining respiratory endotypes and potential therapies for airway inflammation in affected children.
